Existing System Specialists

Already have solar? Let's make it backup-ready.

Adding a battery to an older solar system is not as simple as mounting a box on the wall. We assess your current equipment, check compatibility with modern battery technology, and size the solution so your battery actually charges — and your home stays on when the grid goes down.

  • Right-sized battery design

Why this needs an expert

It is more than attaching a battery and calling it good.

Your older equipment has to be compatible with newer technologies, and your system has to be sized right in order to fully charge the battery.

Power still goes out

Many older solar systems were installed without backup. When HECO goes down, the panels shut off too — even on a sunny day.

Compatibility matters

Your inverter, monitoring, and existing wiring have to play nicely with modern battery technology. Not every system is a simple add-on.

Sizing is everything

An undersized solar array cannot fully charge a battery. We size the backup to your actual production and usage — not just sell you a box.

How it works

Three steps to see if your old system qualifies.

1

Send your bill or proposal

Provide your most recent electric bill or your original solar proposal and production report. This tells us what your system actually produces versus what you use.

2

We assess compatibility

Our team reviews your inverter model, panel layout, and electrical setup to determine whether a battery can be added safely and effectively.

3

Design the right backup

If your system can support it, we size and specify a battery solution that charges reliably — and keeps your essential circuits running during outages.

Our commitment

We will not sell you a battery you cannot charge.

As subject matter experts, it would not be very ethical of us to sell you a battery that your existing solar array cannot keep full. We take the time to thoroughly explore different options for you — including upgrades, replacements, or hybrid solutions when an add-on is not practical.
